One of the BEST dog-friendly hikes in the Smokies because dogs are allowed here. It’s mostly flat, follows the river, and is perfect for small dogs like Pomeranians. Great photo spots and peaceful early mornings.

Clingmans Dome

Dogs are allowed on the paved path to the observation tower. The walk is steep but short, and the views are incredible on cooler mornings.

Patriot Park

Easy riverside walking area in Pigeon Forge with sidewalks, open grass, and plenty of room for dogs to stroll. Good sunset walk.

Wear Farm City Park

Dogs are allowed in the vehicle and there are pull-offs for quick walks. Bears, deer, turkeys, and mountain scenery everywhere.

Explore The Island in Pigeon Forge

Very dog friendly for walking around outdoors. Tons of photo spots, music, fountains, and places to sit.

Cabin Porch Relaxing

Honestly one of the best dog activities in the Smokies. Most dogs LOVE sitting on the deck watching squirrels, hearing the creek, and smelling the mountain air.

Important Smoky Mountain Dog Rules

Most trails inside the Great Smoky Mountains National Park do NOT allow dogs except:

• Gatlinburg Trail
• Oconaluftee River Trail

Always keep dogs leashed because of bears and wildlife. Early mornings are coolest and safest during summer.
